Updated: Aug 16, 2019

Chelsea, VT- Safeline, Inc., a local domestic and sexual violence advocacy and

support services organization has been awarded $8,500 from Granite United Way. The grant will help fund Safeline’s Legal Advocacy program “Support Through the Legal Maze”.

Victims of domestic violence, stalking and sexual abuse need guidance, information and advocacy with the legal issues they encounter as they go through the complicated court system. “Support Through the Legal Maze” provides vital services including referrals to attorneys, assistance filling out paperwork and accompanying survivors to the sheriff’s department and to court. Services are provided for all victims while recognizing the fact that the majority of domestic violence and sexual abuse is perpetrated against women and girls. Safeline provides comprehensive support and advocacy for victims in Orange County and northern Windsor County.

“We are extremely grateful to Granite United Way for their financial assistance as we support victims while they work through a crisis, and as they move forward beyond their immediate emergency situation” says Linda Ingold, Safeline’s Executive Director. “Granite United Way’s funds are vital for helping provide “Support Through the Legal Maze” for survivors.”

Safeline works to end physical, emotional and sexual violence against women and children through direct service, education, advocacy and social change. In 2018, Safeline provided 2,383 services for victims of domestic violence, stalking, and sexual abuse.

Safeline is a charitable nonprofit organization working to end domestic violence, stalking and sexual abuse. In addition to legal advocacy services, Safeline provides safety planning, emotional support, medical advocacy, prevention education, and a 24 hour hotline support for survivors in Orange County and the upper-tier towns of Windsor County.
